Universe
Every year at Universe we set a new vision for our products. To compliment that vision we create a new visual identity. Every change has been carefully made to up our quality default, without sacrificing what makes GitHub unique. By making purposefully incremental changes we can leverage the GitHub spirit and brand history while staying limber and relevant.
Because of that, what follows are examples that are specific to Universe and shouldn’t be considered guidance for the general, core brand look.
Universe has a long history of bringing developers together to celebrate the power of code. Each year we build on the excitement and hype from the year before.
Activations
Use interactions to engage audiences with tactile elements. Design reusable elements that scale across different booth sizes and events. More importantly, avoid borrowing language. By creating distinct and intentional designs we can leverage the GitHub spark into treats and materials.
Booths
Booths are extensions of the GitHub brand: curious, technical, fun. Integrate visual identity with restraint. Always include one premium, non-printed element (wood, metal, mesh, etc.). Use installations to engage audience with tactile elements. Create spaces that are accessible, welcoming, and attract both developers and enterprise audiences. Design reusable elements that scale across different booth sizes, and events.
Occasionally, as shown here at AWS re:invent, we’re more intentional with materials and moments to create a theme that stands out from the crowd.
Do use full bleed with the visual in the poster, imagine it’s bursting out of its frame, spilling onto the exhibit floor.
Do add lightness that showcases the brand’s playfulness.
Do decorate in small pieces—like a header, surface.
Do avoid full photographic coverage, let architecture do its work.
